I'm seeing the following error in a terminal, and I don't know how to fix it.

    Conky: setmntent /etc/mtab: No such file or directory

    This just continues to loop so I worry about impact on my cpu. It's basically the default config with just a few minor tweaks for fonts and transparency. I've tried making a mtab directory to see what would happen. If I do that conky immediatly closes and I get a segmentation fault error. I've tried installed the various different versions thru synaptic, conky-std and conky-all both get the same errors. I would appreciate any help. Thanks

    I like that Conky. Your code runs fine (no errors) on my system, I'm not sure why you don't have a mtab file already in the /etc folder. I'm not familiar with the Chrome OS, it may be structured differently.

    I wouldn't be too worried about the error message using up CPU as long as conky is running correctly otherwise, it appears to be more of a comment than an error anyway. Since the update_interval is set to 1, the message will appear every second in terminal.

    The only thing I changed was position...
    was...
    Code:
    alignment top_left
    gap_x 825
    gap_y 550

    now...
    Code:
    alignment mm #middle_middle
    gap_x 0
    gap_y 0

    and I moved the CPU info over a bit by changing this...
    Code:
    ${voffset 1}${offset 12}${font Ubuntu:pixelsize=10}...

    to this...
    Code:
    ${voffset 1}${offset 62}${font Ubuntu:pixelsize=10}...

    Re: Post your .conkyrc files w/ screenshots

    Hi there experts, I'm looking for some help with my conky.

    Basically I've just rewritten the music section of my conky that displays the album artwork, I was always happy with it visually but my old script was spamming a website every few seconds to retrieve the artwork so I've rewritten it to extract the image directly from the currently playing song and cache the thumbnail that it creates. However no image is being displayed.

    Config for music conky:
    Code:
    ######################
    # - Conky settings - #
    ######################
    update_interval 1
    total_run_times 0
    net_avg_samples 1
    cpu_avg_samples 2
    double_buffer yes
    no_buffers yes
    format_human_readable

    #####################
    # - Text settings - #
    #####################
    use_xft yes
    xftfont Ubuntu:size=8
    xftalpha 0.8
    override_utf8_locale yes
    text_buffer_size 4096

    #############################
    # - Window specifications - #
    #############################
    own_window yes
    own_window_type normal
    own_window_transparent yes
    own_window_argb_visual no
    own_window_argb_value 0
    own_window_hints undecorated,below,sticky,skip_taskbar,skip_pager
    alignment top_left
    gap_x 20
    gap_y 20
    border_inner_margin 8
    minimum_size 200 75
    maximum_width 200
    default_bar_size 92 6

    #########################
    # - Graphics settings - #
    #########################
    draw_shades yes
    default_shade_color 000000
    default_color FFFFFF

    ###########################

    Code:
    #!/bin/sh

    CACHE_DIR=~/.conky/albumartcache
    ARTIST=$(audtool --current-song-tuple-data artist)
    ALBUM=$(audtool --current-song-tuple-data album)
    ARTWORK=$CACHE_DIR/$ARTIST\ -\ $ALBUM.jpg

    if [ ! -d $CACHE_DIR ]
      then
        mkdir -p $CACHE_DIR
    fi

    if [ ! -f "$ARTWORK" ]
      then
        TRACK_PATH=$(audtool --current-song-filename)
        metaflac --export-picture-to=- "$TRACK_PATH" | convert -resize 75x75 - "$ARTWORK"
    fi

    echo \${image \""$ARTWORK"\"}
    I can run the albumart.sh script from a terminal and get the expected result, the thumbnail is created and a valid ${image} tag is being output but for some reason it isn't being parsed in my conky...
    Code:
    rob@crunchbang:~$ ~/.conky/albumart.sh
    ${image "/home/rob/.conky/albumartcache/Fleetwood Mac - Greatest Hits.jpg"}

    Any ideas?

    Edit - You can see what it's supposed to look like in this post...

    Conky doesn't like images with spaces in the name (at least here).

    Once you get the image into your "~/.conky/albumartcache" remove the spaces:

    Code:
    rename 's/ //' *.jpg

    I thought it would be something like that, I've edited the albumart.sh script and all is good

    albumart.sh
    Code:
    #!/bin/sh

    CACHE_DIR=~/.conky/albumartcache
    ARTIST=$(audtool --current-song-tuple-data artist)
    ALBUM=$(audtool --current-song-tuple-data album)
    ARTWORK=$CACHE_DIR/`echo $ARTIST-$ALBUM | sed 's/ //g'`.jpg

    if [ ! -d $CACHE_DIR ]
      then
        mkdir -p $CACHE_DIR
    fi

    if [ ! -f $ARTWORK ]
      then
        TRACK_PATH=$(audtool --current-song-filename)
        metaflac --export-picture-to=- "$TRACK_PATH" | convert -resize 75x75 - $ARTWORK
    fi

    echo \${image $ARTWORK}
    Code:
    rob@crunchbang:~$ ~/.conky/albumart.sh
    ${image /home/rob/.conky/albumartcache/Skrillex-BangarangEP.jpg}
    THanks for the help Sector11.

    No problem, and I just learned you can do the same with 'sed', good stuff all around.

    Thanks.

    Had a change in scenery this morning as I customized my wife's computer. She's a bit of a Naruto fan.

    The other computer has a bigger screen so I increased the font sizes and re-sized EVERYTHING. Took a while to get it all lined up "perfectly" again.
