    Code:
    cavsfan@cavsfan-desktop:~$ conky --version
    Conky 1.8.0 compiled Fri Apr 23 10:42:08 UTC 2010 for Linux 2.6.24-27-server (x86_64)

    Compiled in features:

    System config file: /etc/conky/conky.conf
    Package library path: /usr/lib/conky

      * Xdamage extension
      * XDBE (double buffer extension)
      * Xft

      Lua bindings:
       * Cairo
       * Imlib2
    I installed the fonts and now here is what it looks like:

    I think that is a very good start! I would like to move it flush with my right screen border
    as my other conky was.
    How do I do that?
    Thanks for your help!

    Never mind. What I think I'll do is try to incorporate some of this with my existing conky which is already on the right.

    Here it is after I had to take the weather out:

    Your conky version is perfect - the sweetheart of conkys in my opinion.

    In the conky you will see threes lines similar to:
    Code:
    alignment tl
    gap_x 10  ### left &right
    gap_y 10  ### up & down
    change alignment to 'tr' or 'top_right'
    and play with the gap_x and gap_y to fine tune it.

    Looks like you are missing one font: OpenLogos that's the j you see.
    No - two fonts PizzDudeBullets as well.

    Was just typing out the response too.
    use alignment top_left and use gap y to bring down away from top a bit.

    Re: Post your .conkyrc files w/ screenshots

    Thanks! I added that font and here it is with both of them.
    I will slowly try to add some of the good stuff on the left to the good stuff I have on the right.
    What I like is that I have each core temp and the GPU temp in Fahrenheit along with the driver version.
    The rest of it is a lot like Barto's, but there are several things I like about that one.
    The CPU bars are a lot better than mine and I like the update notifier at the bottom.
    Any way, here are both:

    Your text alignment commands are very helpful and that is coming back to me now a bit.

    Thanks big time for your help. Conky to me is sort of like it works well as long as I don't have to do anything to it!

    I have posted the contents of my conky in this thread but, if you would like to see what produces the conky on the right, I can post it again.
    Thanks again!

    Here is what I like about mine on the right. I have a huge 28' 1920x1200 monitor and have Firefox sized so I can always see it.
    I also like the fact that it is see through, although that limits what wall paper I can use.

    28' 1920x1200 monitor {sigh}

    I have mine set to see my conkys as well (17" 1280x1024):

    Or of course the entire universe:

    be careful. Conky is an addiction. There is a One Step Program however:
    1. Admitted that we were powerless over conky - AND LOVE IT!

    EDIT:
    Most of us can see through conky because we use:
    Code:
    own_window_transparent yes

    Nice, would love to have a 28". I also have mine set up to see my conky but I compensate in a different direction. 1280x1024x2...now if Nvidia would fix their drivers so I could use them I would get my video card temp fixed.

    I noticed something funny today, the ring around my date is messed up. I'm trying out 2d cause we're having sooo many problems in 3d and it wasn't like that in 3d o.O

    Clock Rings by londonali1010 (2009) Edited by jpope

    This script draws percentage meters as rings, and also draws clock hands if you want! It is fully customisable; all options are described in the script. This script is based off a combination of my clock.lua script and my rings.lua script.

    IMPORTANT: if you are using the 'cpu' function, it will cause a segmentation fault if it tries to draw a ring straight away. The if statement on line 145 uses a delay to make sure that this doesn't happen. It calculates the length of the delay by the number of updates since Conky started. Generally, a value of 5s is long enough, so if you update Conky every 1s, use update_num>5 in that if statement (the default). If you only update Conky every 2s, you should change it to update_num>3; conversely if you update Conky every 0.5s, you should use update_num>10. ALSO, if you change your Conky, is it best to use "killall conky; conky" to update it, otherwise the update_num will not be reset and you will get an error.

    To call this script in Conky, use the following (assuming that you save this script to ~/scripts/rings.lua):
        lua_load ~/scripts/clock_rings.lua
        lua_draw_hook_pre clock_rings

Color scheme idea thanks to one of gutterslob's on the crunchbang forum, weather thanks to mrpeachy and sector11, rings thanks to londonali and jpope, and rhythmbox thanks to VastOne also on crunchbang. And Thank You to everyone for posting questions,answers, configs and screenies.

    I AM NOT changing this again!!! But, I am checking out the other workspace options that 42dorian directed me to

    Stay tuned for further developments (cue: wicked laugh).
    If I just execute the holidayrc I get this message Conky: compare failed for expression ' < 132'
    how do I get rid of it?
