    Wonderfull.

    Only thing I want!!

Can we please not see vdsl conky every time we scroll through this thread.

    Get a room.
Yes. "Zealot" indeed. This is my last Data Dump. Show me, if you wish, where I have copied VinDSL's work. Show me where I have been a "Zealot" as you say.

If you're going to accuse me of something, have your facts straight. I respect the guy for having a sense of style, and I happen to have got a good laugh from his odd sense of humour. Had you attacked other people on this thread, I would have done the exact same as I did. Especially since you used a quote from me to start your little hypocritical tirade. You were entirely disrespectful and I simply hold you accountable to your words. To say you're tired of seeing his Conky copied so often is hypocrisy. Your own is far from being unique. As the old saying goes, people in glass houses should not throw stones.

Here is the one I use for my ibm thinkpad t30 laptop. It works great for small screens.

    Code:
    # Create own window instead of using desktop
    own_window yes
    own_window_transparent yes
    own_window_type override
    own_window_hints undecorated,below,skip_taskbar

    # fiddle with window
    use_spacer right

draw_outline no # amplifies text if yes

works with openbox on debian testing; conky will only show on desktop 1 by default. I think some people found a way to specify which desktop conky would display on.
    Thanks landwell, it works!

Now we have to find out how to put it on another workspace

42dorian came up with this solution. Apparently it is functional but I haven't tested it

    Thank you, for that, 42dorian!

Our styles, across the board, are as different as night n' day, yet we still respect one another. That is unique, in my experience. No jealousy, no resentment, just mutual appreciation.

M never did understand my "odd sense of humour" and finally put me on his "ignore list". Can't please everyone...

Really, this whole thing is VastOne's fault!

    A little history...

In August-2010, I joined these forums, to get involved with dev releases. To this day, it's the only reason I come to Ubu Forums. Conky wasn't even a consideration, in my joining here.

By September-2010, ppl wouldn't leave me alone about that "widget thing" on the right side of my screenshots. I ignored their PM's.

On 12-September-2011, VastOne (a mover & shaker in the dev forums) sent me a PM. He said 'they' had been talking, and wondered why I hadn't posted in this forum, and asked me to share my code. I told him, no problem - I didn't even know this forum existed.

I received several PM's from VastOne, soon after, profusely apologizing for getting me involved in this thread.

    Example:

    No need to apologize!

This is my hobby, and my passion.

    I like helping ppl...
Great ... Welcome to the thread and a massive amount of data and info!
That says it all, I guess...

I don't *feel* like I got sucked into this thread. I did this freely, knowing that the 'phone' would be ringing off the hook. It's my hobby, and my passion. But, I cannot support all the questions that I get.

You have provided support, far in excess of what I'm capable of doing. And, my hat is off to you!

All I do, with my data dumps, is document my walk through Conky.

I don't make a big deal out of it, or get too fancy (if you will), and I *think* that is what draws ppl to my code. It's very simple and unpretentious - maybe overly so.

You have stated, on many occasions, that my code is NOT for beginners. Evidently it's not for gurus either. The truth must lay somewhere in the middle. LoL!

Anyway, hang in there, my friend. You're doing a GREAT job!

Er... At this point, I *feel* like I should offer YOU an apology, much the same as VastOne did to me.

I did not mean to trap you into so much support...
Surely, you'll get an occasional malcontent, but if you want to continue, I'll keep sending them over to this thread.

Truely, I believe most ppl can (and do) figure it out for themselves.

    Thanks for the link dj.
I read the article but my... it's way over my head
Until there comes an easier method, I'll stick to conky on workspace 1 or on all 4 of them

I replace the ip command for something I type in like 127.0.0.1 or /dev/null, and then take the screenshot. Makes much better pictures. And it's all in conky so you can always ctrl-z and get back to the original.
