    The reason I did it like this was because if done directly in conky, it will hang for a long time before outputting anything to the screen

    I'm running into issues to get the window type I want.

    I want it to always be visible, not decorated, sticky and below any other windows.
    But if I set window type desktop/own window yes with the correct hints, it disappears whenever I right click on the desktop.

    I solved this by putting in:
    own_window no
    own_window_type desktop
    own_window_hints undecorated,below,sticky,skip_taskbar,skip_pager
    own_window_transparent yes
    background no

    But as far as I understand, pretty much all of these are redundant..?

    Also the maximum_width setting is not working (obviously) without its own window. How do I set it to be wider..? I can't seem to find the correct setting for it...

    I always use own_window yes and I don't use the background setting (has nothing to do with your desktop background, in case that's what you're thinking).

    maximum_width limits the width of your conky, it can only make your conky smaller not larger. Use minimum_size x y (x and y in pixels) instead to make it wider (and/or higher).

    Use ${goto x} instead. x is the pixels to move the text after ${goto x} to the right conting from the left edge of the conky window.

    Ctrl+C kills my conkies. I think it might have to do with the background no/yes setting.

    Always use own_window yes. I'm not 100% sure about this, but I think the setting is to somehow merge one conky into another conky when you're running more than 1 conky.

    The images in my weather forecast conky won't show up. They were there yesterday but when I logged on this evening, they won't show up. I tried killing conky and restarting, but that doesn't work. I haven't made any changes to this either.
