Well I somehow doubt the conkycal.sh script could be made more simple now, anyway!

Like a dummy I keep trying to learn Lua, Python and PHP all at the same time. I should really pick one.

    Thanks Bruce and dk75.

Didn't work, but did give me new information.

When I change the wallpaper image (I don't even need feh for that, can use the Gnome appearance manager), conky does update... but its background becomes the part of the wallpaper that conky should use if it was in the original position, before moving.

In other words, it seems that the problem is that conky does not update the wallpaper cropping coordinates, although it does update the wallpaper itself.

That code (in blue) can replace the case statements which pad days 1 - 9 with a leading 0 in the horizontal calender too!

Alright now, I had to stare at this for a bit to see what it actually does. very intresting!

Yeah I happened to remember the seq command for some reason. Turned out perfect for this! Of course if you want the day names like searchOne has, it'll need to be made a bit more complicated again.

The case statement picking the language has the days starting with Monday instead of Sunday so I could get it to work with the array down below. Just to eliminate another case statement.
