Smile Kids say "Thank you (Ed)Ubuntu Team"

Weve just installed these two donated computers in a community nursury and breakfast/after schol club in Lincolnshire, England. The machines are 600mhz/128mb/4.2gig and they took about 3/4's of an hour to install and configure perfectly, and have cost the centre nothing!

The kids absolutely love them, most are from underpriviledged backgrounds and many of them have never used a computer before. As a result they will grow up computer literate. The Nursury just wanted to say a heartfelt thanks for all of the effort and long hours that the community has put into creating this supurb collection of software.

    Keep Up the Good work!

 great job!!!! I’m amazed that humanity doesn’t utilize “computer waste” more often, many offices are keen to dispose of computers that may be past their corporate desktop sales by date, however, they are more than good enough machines for other uses.

I have two old PCs at home, a Pentium II 300 with Damn Small Linux that works very well as a general web browser, editing documents, and even playing Mp3s. My other oldie is a Celeron 700, it cost me £30 + £20 for 512MB of RAM running Debian Etch, and it works great! It even handles streaming video and flash well.

The Edubuntu team appreciates feedback like this, we are absolutely glowing. We're so happy, in fact, that we created a news item to this story on our website, something we usually only do for big news.

Thanks so much! Keep on Edubuntu-ing!

Here is the link to the website story (which is basically the same as this forum entry):

Also, go to this page: http://www.ubuntu.com/mystory

And send your story to Canonical. They are interested in hearing these kinds of stories.
I hope my advice helps. Please let me know whether it did!

    To Ecomoney:

Wow, great, I got a bit emotional... (pretty sad huh)

Anyway, I was wondering how you knew about edubuntu? Somebody gave a live cd, or you read it somewhere... or?

Just curious, it think the edubuntu team would also like to know this, to spread edubuntu and ubuntu in general.

I wish all these kids lots of educational fun!

    Greetings,

    Monstroxus
