I want to make a community of people that make avatars in an organized manner. Currently in Ubuntu we don't have a wide selection of avatars to work with and it would be nice to have a little program that could make avatars for us.

We could have a site setup that people could use... or better, a nifty little program that can run in python and make avatars and set everything we have to use it.
When we make a new avatar these could change:
Login picture
All accounts in gaim
and other things...

A step further would be to create a standard of creating the avatars so that people could make "packs" and downloading them gives us more things we can do to "ourselves".

I think it would be fun to do. We could start by gathering supporters from the community.

Although I'm not too good at making avatars, I like the idea. We could do the same thing as the avei creator on that site does except with tux.

That could be one of many packages the could be install with the idea. Tahnks, oddly enough I didn't even think about tux.
But there are not artists willing to help out here?

Can you do vector graphics with inscape? Maybe you can make some things to start with. I got these from a program found here...

Problem with that program is it is copy writen and closed. We should make our own version in php for web or python. I prefer python because it can be a better part of ubuntu. Throw some ideas here. And lets see what the community thinks.

Or you could create simulators with different head bases for Ubuntu users. The Ubuntu community could contribute accessories and styles to make they look nice.

hey everyone! just thought i'd introduce myself since i've joined the project. my name's Locke Dragon. i'm not much of a programmer, but i'm fairly skilled (in my own mind) with graphic arts. so here i am! XD i went ahead and edited the latest "release" of the avatar "parts." i cleaned up most of the objects, and deleted some "less-than-perfect" parts. imho, i think we need to keep the style simple and consistent. the adding in of eyebrows and noses give the avatars too much detail, especially since they'll be crammed onto such a small canvas. to end on a more positive note, i think this is a GREAT project and i give MAJOR kudos to everyone involved.
