OK...I did this...but now, I am officially with no OS. It has happen all over again...I have no menu.

I placed the fonts as mentioned above...and now I need somebody's help to get them out of there manually in terminal(but only the ttf fonts).

Can somebody tell me where to look for this folder?

    fonts:/// ?

I cannot help you about that. I want to explain How you can do it without using terminal

Well if you want to do it the easy way... its very simple

    For Feisty:
System>Preferences>Fonts>Details> and then you choose to go to the fonts file and paste the font there

(I use Ubuntu in spanish so the names may be different but I guess you'll manage)

    in Gutsy:

    system>preferences>appearance>fonts

Yet one more thing I have to learn, just to get my work done.

Is there any kind of font manager to reduce this to a 2 minute exercise? I just want to manage my fonts, no spend an hour learning how to install them one at a time.

/var/lib/defoma/gs.d/dirs/fonts ...This is where the font folder in system>preferences>appearence>fonts exists.

I pasted my fonts into the alphabetical folders in /var/lib/defoma/fontconfig.d because that's where Open Office seems to get them from, and that worked for me. I used the sudo nautilus command to open root privilege file browsers (for adding and deleting fonts) since I don't speak "command line", or Klingon for that matter.

Wow... i'm about to gouge out one of my own eyes!

I open terminal.. sudo nautilus and ctl L to font page... this method will not allow me to copy the 4 fonts to the folder.

I navigate folder by folder down into the directory.. it will allow me to copy paste them into there this way... great... wait NO!

Although they are present, still not able to use the fonts.

What am I doing wrong here?

    Gutsy.

Try the Home\user\ .fonts folder instead. Far easer.

Wow... ok that did it for me, thanks for the response sir!

strange how one terminal method will work, but another didn't, and all the GUI methods didn't work for me.

copying into the home/usr/fonts/ directory did it!

Yeah. A font manager would be spectacular. That's one of the biggest things I miss about KDE.

There was a font manager before Nautilus's backend was remade. If you are on Gutsy, you can type fonts:/// to get a font manager.

Instead of copying every font one by one just type cp *.ttf /home/username/.Fonts (provided your current working directory is where you copied your fonts
