One thread to rule them all v3: Beryl & Official Compiz & Compiz Fusion *FEISTY ONLY*

Many guides below disappeared when beryl's server failed. Use the guides below preferably, but those at this link should work.

Compiz has forked... 'Beryl' & 'Official Compiz' now exist.

Both have advantages, and disadvantages, try them out to see!

A short introduction to beryl: http://wiki.beryl-project.org/index.php/FAQ/Beryl

All about Compiz and Fusion Plugins http://www.opencompositing.org/

And what are XGL and AIGLX? http://www.freesoftwaremagazine.com/node/1797

Edgy Guides:

----ATI: http://www.ubuntuforums.org/showpost...38&postcount=7

If you get your 3d acceleration working, you can always follow this guide to install XGL then "sudo apt-get install beryl"
Compiz Official + AIGLX on Edgy

Please add suggestions for other guides below! Its extremely hard to find a guide for every situation myself

It would be better to keep technical help to the linked threads or even new threads rather than this one.All posts other than addition suggestions WILL be moved or deleted from this thread.

If you need support try out #ubuntu-effects on irc.freenode.net

Thank you for linking to my guide on Beryl/XGL using Nvidia and KDE!

I have put up the same guide here at UbuntuForums, it can be found at http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=271533

I am glad to attempt to answer any questions.

Re: One thread to rule them all v2: Beryl & Official Compiz

Ehm... Excuse me, btw my guide isn't about «Building latest Beryl from source», or better... Not only!
There's a script to package latest beryl svn with a click, but there's also an Ubuntu Dapper/Edgy repository to have daily upgrades for beryl (and emerald and all others beryl related apps)!

Bye!
