    SAS Statistical Software and UBUNTU

    Y'all:

I want to install SAS on Dapper. Does anyone know whether this can be done?

I realize that SAS is proprietary software. It is imporant that I use it, and want to use it on Ubuntu.

    Thanks!

    Phil,

I'm not familair with SAS at all but I'm sure it can be done. If you do a search for 'Linux' on the SAS website you get many hits.

    Also came across this http://www.sas.com/news/preleases/120103/news1.html

A *nix version of SAS most certainly exists, as I use the Unix version on the mainframe at work. However I haven't been able to find it for a single user. There's lots of outdated information on the web about Linux and SAS. I found a couple university websites that offer a linux version for the same price as the windows version to their faculty, but couldn't find anything on the actual SAS website. Your best bet would probably be to give their sales people a call. They will be able to tell you right away what your options are.

    30day trial version here, http://www.sas.com/apps/demosdownloa...ckageID=000382

Once you get to the actual download page the installation instructions are provided. Simple untar followed by running the installer.

I installed JMP Statiscal Discovery 6.02 from SAS and it works fine.

Try the trial version and see how it goes for you.

    JMP academic license for $595

Just get your department to pay for it, or as a tax writeoff

No. No unless you can install it in WINE or run it on a XP virtual machine from within linux.

I wonder what happened to the Linux version?

Maybe contact SAS and inquire about the Linux version. Maybe you can use your existing license. They definately have a Linux version available.
