Hi All,
I'm stepping through Luca's how to but I'm having trouble when it comes to the ieee80211-1.0.3 make process & it exits with error2 (see below). It seems that it may be related to the make command getting an incorrect gcc number.
I'm running:
Ubuntu Breezy 5.10 - 2.6.12-10-386 #1 Mon Jan 16 17:18:08 UTC 2006 GNU/Linux
Here is the error I'm receiving during the "make":
Code:
keldrum@k9:~/ieee80211-1.0.3$ make
Checking in /lib/modules/2.6.12-10-386/build/ for ieee80211 components...

It looks to me (in my very limited knowledge) like it's giving the wrong gcc version number during this section:
Code:
/usr/src/linux-headers-2.6.12-1-386/scripts/gcc-version.sh: line 11: gcc-3.4: command not found
/usr/src/linux-headers-2.6.12-10-386/scripts/gcc-version.sh: line 12: gcc-3.4: command not found
make[1]: gcc-3.4: Command not found
I tried running that script individually and it reports an error on exit:
Code:
keldrum@k9:/usr/src/linux-headers-2.6.12-10-386/scripts$ sh gcc-version.sh
gcc-version.sh: line 11: -E: command not found
gcc-version.sh: line 12: -E: command not found
0000
I checked in synaptic and it reports gcc as version# 4:4.0.1-3 (breezy). Should I try the newest versions of the ieee80211 subsystem and ipw2200 driver? I though that sticking to the versions numbers listed in the how to may avoid some potential problems.
I would appreciate any ideas.
Thanks!
