Hello,
I've followed this HOWTO and I think I did everything correctly. I had to manualy remove old ieee80211 module.
Now when I turn on my computer I was expecingt to be connected to my wireless automatically. But my wireless does not work. this is what I get when I type iwconfig:
lo no wireless extensions.
eth0 unassociated ESSID:"bosna"
Mode:Managed Channel=0 Access Point: 00:00:00:00:00:00
Bit Rate=0 kb/s Tx-Power=20 dBm
Retry limit:7 RTS thrff Fragment thrff
Power Managementff
Link Quality:0 Signal level:0 Noise level:0
Rx invalid nwid:0 Rx invalid crypt:0 Rx invalid frag:0
Tx excessive retries:0 Invalid misc:0 Missed beacon:0
eth1 no wireless extensions.
sit0 no wireless extensions.
Can anybody help give me a hint as to what I need to do for wireless to work?
thanks
Are you using WPA?
Hey all,
Luca, thanks for the great guide. I'm having some trouble though. I've been through this (and a couple of other) guides and I've not had much success. I'm sure it was working at one point but it isn't now, and I can't get WEP or WPA to work.
What I'd like to do is clear out anything that I may have screwed up and start from scratch. Trouble is I don't know which config files and programs should be cleared out and I'm not quite sure how to clear them once I've figured out what they are.
I know I've played with wpasupplicant, modprobe, and I've followed the above guide twice to no avail. I tried another guide that suggested using ndiswrapper and the win drivers. I think I've removed everything from all this but I'm not sure.
On a related note, what are the implications of using the ubuntu networking config GUI tool. How well does it play with the other network tools and scripts like ifconfig, iwconfig and ifup/ifdown?
I hope somebody can help
FishFoot.
Yes luca_linux, I am using WPA-PSK. I know becase that is how my windows connects to my wireless...Originally Posted by luca_linux

Yeah, except for the WPA you can use the GUI tool.Originally Posted by FishFoot

Not at the moment, it did at some point. That's why I want to clear everything out. I'm sure I just got things a little mixed up and if I can get back to ground zero and then start again it will work... I hope.Originally Posted by luca_linux
