Enemy Territory sound issues

I have no sound in Enemt Territory and TC: Elite (ET mod). When I run the game in console I can see the following error:

/dev/dsp: Invalid argument

Sound works fine in Amarok, Skype etc. I think the problem may have something to do with ET using OSS and my card only being supported by ALSA. I am unsure what to do about it though.

My sound card is a Chaintech AV-710.

I tried that little howto and had no luck. I think my issue must be unrelated.
