I'm working on a simple little website to host information for my senior design project, and I know nothing at all about modern webpageification. I took a class back in high school where we learned some basic html and frames (I hate frames), and that's about it. So anyhow, since this site is going to be hosted under a university address I thought I'd try to mimic the style of the rest of their pages somewhat. Problem is that their pages all use tables for the layout and so a simple page requires a TON of code. Tables look very complicated and confusing, and I don't want to deal with a ton of code when I'm adding content later, so I started reading up on CSS. With a little tinkering, I've been able to approximate their table layout with way less code, but there's still one hangup. They have this huge and complicated header at the top of each page that they want to appear of all university sites. So I'm wondering if anybody who knows more about this than me (which is pretty much everybody) could look at this site: http://www.engr.utk.edu/ and tell me if there's a better way to pull off the header than what I'm doing here: http://web.utk.edu/~bshatley.
Ideally, is there a way to put that header table in my stylesheet somehow, so it'll show up on every page without me having to copy it over? Also open to criticism and especially links to good page building resources.
