Change the line one more time, then do the following.

    Code:
    chmod 555 ~/.wine/drive_c/Program\ Files/World\ of\ Warcraft/WTF/Config.wtf
That makes your Config, wtf unwriteable, so it won't get changed again.

To change it back, replace 555 with 755.

    2GB Ram

-opengl just ****** up, blue flashing...
-d3d low fps and disconnect after loading (timeout becuz of the lag, i think)

Winecfg error at clicking on the "Audio" tab -_-

Thanks for the guide. I had a brief hiccup, but its working well now with good framerates, latency and sound.

One problem I do have is with keyboard input. If I switch to another desktop and come back again, almost all keyboard input is disabled.

A and D will turn my character left and right as normal, but W and S will not send the character forward and back. Strangely Enter will bring up the chat window, but neither A, D nor any other key will work.

I have followed the thread that creates a panel shortcut that doesn't run in a terminal, but this has not helped.

    Does anybody have any suggestions?

    Thanks
    Jem

    For this command
    cd /home/<wow directory>
    cd WTF
    nano Config.wtf
What do I modify the first line to so that it can show that is in the desktop?
    cd /home/Desktop/World of Warcraft/WoW.exe

    Is that right or wrong?

Re: HOWTO: WoW under 6.06 with Wine - NVIDIA/ATI

I am having the flickering screan issue when loading into wow with wine WoW.exe -opengl I found the link below that has a patch for this issue.
    http://appdb.winehq.org/appview.php?iVersionId=5606

However I am not real sure how to install it. The only thing I can find on installing it is to manually configure wine. It has been a really long time since I did that so I would like to avoid it but if thats the only way so be it. Any help would be appreicated.

I am getting direct rendering and plenty of FPS in glxgears.

    Thanks,
    Tiger

    I have a problem.

I installed WOW with the free drivers and it worked good. BUT, when I moved and changed the zone where I was, there was an strange graphic error with the green letters of the new zone (the name).

Ok, I installed the ATI drivers and the error isn't exist now but it is SLOWER. The camera movement is slow. The free drivers was perfect, except the zone name

    I have an ATI 9250
    Ubuntu User #6152

I think i fixed this by going back to x.19. You also might try without the -opengl switch.
