I took my new laptop to school for the first time. I can't seem to find a good tutorial for setting up a PEAP authenticated (root certificate) wireless connection, can anyone help me with that?
Anyway, here are some comments:
In the break before class:
*A bloke from my class, who is the only one who knows that I use Linux sees the wobbly window when I move a window*
Bloke: haha cool
Me: Yeah it looks cool, but I can't set up this damn @£$£$½234@£$ wireless network
Bloke: Linux is so complicated!
Me: Not really, it's just that this particular wireless network isn't very Linux-friendly
Bloke: Yeah, they use Microsoft for everything here. Tough luck.
In class:
*Person next to me look at my laptop*
Person 1: Is that Windows...?
Me: No, it's Linux
Person 1: Ok, what makes that better than Windows?
Me: Some like coffee, some like tea
*booting jingle is playing in class*
Some girls: What is that sound? What are you doing?
(usually no one takes notice of the jingle in XP)
*Another person takes notice of my laptop*
Person 2: What kind of Windows is that?
Me: It's not Windows, it's Linux
Person 1: Looks cool
Person 2: Yeah, it does
*A slightly geeky person passes by*
Geek: Oh, are you using a Mac or just the Mac OS on a PC?
Me: It's actually Linux
*I use Tomboy to take some notes, while showing it off to Person 1 who uses Word for taking notes - not the ideal way to do it*
*I start Inkscape and move it to another workspace using ctrl+alt+shift triggering the cube effect*
Person 1: Did you see that? (to person 1)
Person 2: Yeah, that is really cool
*After looking at my screen for a while*
Person 1: Have you seen Windows Vista? That looks pretty cool too
Me: Actually, it's possible to make this look like Vista somewhat
* I change Compiz window decoration to one of the Vista themes*
Person 1: So maybe I should install this on my laptop, how much does it cost? Or is it free?
Me: It's free
Person 2: I think I would get seasick after a while
Me: It's possible to turn off some effects or you can just turn the whole thing off *I switch to Metacity* see?
