Has anyone managed to get Guild Wars on WINE working fine? Or is it another lost cause? I would just like to know. Thanks.

To the best of my knowledge you can't run GW on Wine.
It would seem that each new release of Wine gets a little closer, but not yet...
Until that day, we must use Cedega, which does a very good job for most of us.
You should still be able to get a Cedega demo here, if you are interested in testing it out? The demo last I looked has been superceded by a few quite useful (as far as GW goes) updates.
No luck yet. Although, with every version I get a bit closer to actually playing. With 0.9.19 I was even able to log in and run around for a bit. Within 20 seconds, I had a terrible crash, so plaese do not get your hopes too high.
As Handy already mentioned, try Cedega if you like being extorted.
A friend of mine did yave GW running through WINE, althought aparently in the last GW update it stopped working, i dunno anything that could help ya im afriad though
Hey, I thought I was pretty kind to transgaming in my last post...
But now that you have kick started me...
Few people like having to pay for anything every month, like phone, electricity, water, Cedega...
Boy, is there a lot of us hanging out for Wine to evolve to the point where we don't have to pay for cedega!!
I will happily pay the Wine people money for their work when it runs GW.
Hmm, perhaps I should start paying them sooner than that...
Hey I have guildwars, but kinda stopped playing, I'm try to install it with wine later tonight. I'll post back with my results.
I have been tinkering about a bit. I have Guild Wars running at this point, albeit with a few issues. First, the music plays at double speed. Furthermore, I hear no sound effects. Second, my mouse just disappears. It does work though.
I can run around in cities and explorable areas. I have not tried any missions yet. Chatting is possible as well. Fighting is possible, but not very easy without a visible mouse pointer.
