Ubuntu Gnome 16.04 Desktop on USB drive = system shutdown

Greetings and salutations,
Trying to run Ubuntu Gnome 16.04 Desktop from a USB drive, created with Universal USB Installer from pendrivelinux.com
I set BIOS to boot USB first but system shuts itself down when it should load OS.
Computer: Win7, AMI Mobo, Intel i7
USB: 3.0 32gb
Goal: Run Ubuntu Gnome 16.04 Desktop OS directly from USB drive, not install on HDD.
Forgive my noobishness, this is my first Ubuntu attempt. Any advice on how to get this working or an alternative route to goal would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Do you get to a menu of choices like "Try Ubuntu", install, memory test, media test? With W7, I assume you are running legacy mode (non UEFI). Did you hashcheck the downloaded ISO? Does it work on any other machine? Did you try different USB ports? The 16.04 release seems to be a bit pickier on getting the USB created correctly, maybe try the 14.04 release and see it that works.

A) "Try Ubuntu" menu does not come up.
B) I dunno if Win7 is 'legacy' or not. I just refuse 10 constantly.
C) Hashcheck is good
D) Other machines are currently in pieces, so I cannot test elsewhere.
E) Yes, tried different USB ports
F) I will give 14.04 a try
