Re: HOWTO set up Juniper Network Connect VPN on Ubuntu Dapper

The server I'm connecting to first requires me to log in without a password after which I get an SMS to my phone including a temporary one time password for the next stage.

I can also use the ncsvc with an empty password and get the SMS, but where can I input the password for the second phase? Using it instead of the empty password does not work (as it's not the password but a response to the challenge).

Re: HOWTO set up Juniper Network Connect VPN on Ubuntu Dapper

Bah. This has been working fine for me on 8.04 and NC 6.5 for the longest time, but sometime after 10.04, it has stopped working for me. I'm not sure if it was just the upgrade or something else I've done. Here's the error message I'm getting:

"A version conflict occured [sic] between the target application and the applet. Please contact your system administrator. (Error condition SL0x12)"

I don't really understand the error message-- what's the target application? Is this a java version issue? I did have OpenJDK on there, but have removed it.

I uninstalled openJDK... I now get the same error as yellowking

This is working for me on Ubuntu server 10.04 fresh install 'with "Ubuntu desktop" installed via tasksel' and forgetting all about openJDK and icedtea, as apparently this has an incompatibility....

    Add these to your repo's:-
    deb http://archive.canonical.com/ubuntu lucid partner
    deb-src http://archive.canonical.com/ubuntu lucid partner

    Then install sun-java6
    apt-get install sun-java6-bin sun-java6-jre sun-java6-plugin
Then using firefox to login worked fine for me... haven't worked out yet how to get it to work without need for firefox yet... but this doesn't really bother me.

Interesting... I just upgraded to 10.04 (figure I may as well get right up to date while I am having issues) but am still getting exactly the same error as I mentioned above "Sl0x12". I don't think I have ever been given an error code that has no documentation whatsoever online.

Re: HOWTO set up Juniper Network Connect VPN on Ubuntu Dapper

What about wine? I think that the error I was getting might be due to unrecognised certification which is picked up on in firefox 3.6 but apparently not in 3.0. I am running 3.0 in wine with java but not quite got there yet. It asks if I want to run setup and then redirects me to the main page... Is there anything else I need/has anyone else got it working under wine?

    Cheers

Got it working eventually... If you want to know how: midlessly upgrade as much as possible and try a mix & match of the advice in the above posts, turn it on and off lots of times, spend all evening working on it, turn it off again, go to bed, designate the next day to work on it, turn it on, think "ok ill start by seeing what err message its giving me now" and then be pleasantly surprised when it works...

Cheers all for the bits of info throughout thread

Sorry to bump, but any tips on this?

I managed to get it working, it's a bit difficult to use.

I can find out the DSID cookie from browser using firebug console (document.cookie) and supply it as an argument -c DSID=xxxx to ncui.

Re: HOWTO set up Juniper Network Connect VPN on Ubuntu Dapper

It's been almost a week, and I think I'm making progress ... does anyone know how to get more diagnostic information (besides -L 5)?

I'm executing the following (or junipernc, which gives me the same result):

    /usr/lib/jvm/ia32-java-6-sun/jre/bin/java -jar $HOME/.juniper_networks/network_connect/NC.jar -h my.companys.VPNurl -u 'myUsername' -p MyPasswd -f certificate.der -r 'myRealm' -L 5
My logs tell me that I failed to authenticate with error 10, but I'm not sure what this means ... there are plenty of others seeing the same message, but as far as I can tell no one seems to have gotten beyond it.

My logs are not much help, at least to my untrained eye:

Does anyone with a similar error message have a success story they can share?

Re: HOWTO set up Juniper Network Connect VPN on Ubuntu Dapper

    Hello,

I'm using Debian lenny but I also tried with testing. My system is a 64bit one but I also tried with a 32bit chroot.
No matter what I try, I'm getting this in ncsvc.log:
    20100908204950.22171 ncsvc[p22330.t22330] dsclient.error state post auth cache cleaner failed, error 10 (dsclient.cpp:346)
    20100908204950.22280 ncsvc[p22330.t22330] ncapp.error Failed to authenticate with IVE. Error 10 (ncsvc.cpp:192)
    20100908204950.22306 ncsvc[p22330.t22330] dsncuiapi.para DsNcUiApi::~DsNcUiApi (dsncuiapi.cpp:72)

I have read somewhere that having a realm string with a space in it might be troublesome, can you confirm or disprove this somehow?
