    What's your favorite pointing device?

I'm sure everyone has their favorite one, here's mine:

It's an Microsoft optical trackball I've owned since 2006. Still works like the day I bought it, except the Microsoft logo has worn off finally. Kind of nice that Xubuntu uses all 5 buttons even if you can't program what they do like in Windows.

    So what's yours?

    My finger?

Seriously? A $4 mouse, which I try and avoid by the excessive extensive use of shortcut keys.

I use a Logitech MX Revolution which I bought with a keyboard 4 years ago.

Mine's a simple USB store-brand-name mouse with two buttons and a clickable scroll wheel. There was a time, many years ago, when I preferred a keyboard and thought a mouse was a gimmick.

I use a Logitech G302 Daedalus Prime "Gaming Mouse" that I got for Christmas last year.

For a very long time a Microsoft Basic Optical Mouse v2.0, but lately a Turtle Beach Grip 300 gaming mouse which happens to be "driveless", there's no need for special drivers or 3rd party setup programs to fully utilise it. It's a basic gaming mouse that doesn't offer you programmable buttons or the ability to create custom configurations, but only allows you to adjust the DPI and polling rate, of which even the latter seems to work fine. For example, if I increase it to 500Hz, the mouse cursor feels more responsive, the downside is that the extra work the CPU needs to do manifests (in Ubuntu/Linux) as an additional ~10% CPU usage for X (when the cursor is moved.)

It feels a bit heavier than my previous mouse and definitely takes some getting used to.

    That is all.

Front sight focus. On my mom's nice light weight revolver.

Which reminds me, I got in trouble in computer class for my answer to the question, What was the original point-and-click interface? with "Colt firearms."

Very un-PC there Jamie. For me, trackballs for desktops, trackpoints/'eraserheads' for laptops. I have a Logitech trackball right now, wouldn't mind a Kensington Expert Mouse trackball. Those scroll rings are nicer (faster and more accurate) than the typical scroll wheel IMO.

Logitech wireless mice in general. I especially love the unifying receiver they have.

Have you had a problem with trying to re-pair devices with the unifying receiver? I had to install the Windows unifying software when I swapped some keyboards and pointing devices around. Once properly paired they worked as expected with Ubuntu. There is now linux software that should serve the same pairing function.
