xubuntu-desktop + compiz, log out dimming/elevation password dim slow

So I switched to compiz for my xfce4/xubuntu-desktop environment. Generally working quite well.

Except, when I hit the lock button on the app menu to try to log out, it takes forever for the logout interface to come up. The computer behaves sluggish until it comes up too.

I get the same effect when I try to run something that needs my password for elevation. So I suspect they're related.

Searching hasn't resulted in a solution. Any ideas?

Turns out AMD fglrx drivers just suck. Swapped to a 960 GTX with nVidia drivers, and problem solved.

Thanks for all the "help" though
