Ubuntu 14.04 LTS login loop [HELP]

I have been trying stuff all day to fix this problem on my old samsung laptop.

I have downloaded different img and redownloaded just encase if its corrupt but it isn't. On the live usb it asks for a usernane and password which is ubuntu and blank. A black screen appears and it goes back to login.
I also tried to install it straight away without using the live usb and it still does the login loop. THE PROBLEM IS THE laptop as i plugged the usb into my other computer and i went into the live usb and it goes straight to Ubuntu desktop which means its working. So how can i fix it for my laptop. It is a samsung R505

Google around for "ubuntu login loop". There are many causes and solutions. Do you have nvidia?
