    Sugget me good forums

    Hi Friends,

    Please suggest me a few really good online forums that deal with the following subjects based on your personal experience. I would really love to hear from you.

    C/C+++Java/PHP/Perl/Python/Ruby ie open source programming

    Web design/development where all aspects of web site development are discussed.

    Thanks a lot.

    perl - pm.org is THE place.

    Don't really talk about web design, sorry.

    Re: Sugget me good forums

    Ok, after some googling I have been able to find some interesting programming forums, they are listed below. All of them seem to contain a lot of threads, in thousands actually.

    My choices are....

    For Java in particular,

    http://www.dreamincode.net/forums/fo...gramming-help/

    For Perl in particular,

    http://forums.devshed.com/

    For PHP in particular,

    http://forums.phpfreaks.com/

    But I am a little disappointed that I could not find ones particularly good for C and C++. Many, including the above 3, have C and C++ sub-forums, but they seem to mix them up with other variants such as Objective C and C#. Please suggest me any programming forums that you might like, thanks.

    Re: Sugget me good forums

    I realize that you are looking for forums, but many towns have local groups fro each of these different languages.
    * PM - meets monthly.
    * Ruby - Monthly, plus bi-weekly free training, plus assorted other coding/haking meetings at cafes around the metro area
    * php - really don't know anything about this.
    * C# - the local MSFT group seems active
    * ObjectiveC - the local iOS and Apple Dev groups are extremely active.
    * Java - they meet monthly to discuss the new security issues.
    * Python - the python group here is extremely active. They attend Ubuntu and normal Linux meetings as well as their own.

    So, if you have local groups, it might be good to ask those nice people where they hang out. Plus, don't forget that IRC is still used by many old-timer programmers like me - that might be were you check for the C and C++ knowledge - AFTER you read the current FAQs from Usenet. That last idea would be smart for any language, but the old C/C++ guys might be especially _difficult_ if you haven't read the FAQs first. Yes, both IRC and usenet are still alive.
