    Bleeding edge testing project

I've set up a testing project for fresh Ubuntu applications here.

The idea is to get some basic testing done on the cool new applications of tomorrow while they are still at an early stage in their development cycle.

By giving this topic some attention now and making the development teams aware of the access issues we can hopefully get accessibility on their roadmap for v1.0, and not deferred to v2.0 as is often the case (or v3.0 with Firefox)

If you want to do some basic testing of the latest app, pick one from the list, or add your own favourite app!

How could we alert those application writers of accessibility issues, when many of those programs aren't easily installable? Some doesn't have binaries nor source code available either.

Some of them like Jokosher and Xara are installable in Edgy (which can be run in a virtual machine). Others like Tomoy, F-spot and Beagle are already installable on Dapper.

In some cases it's enough to look at the specifications and screenshots of the applications and think about what the access implications of this new technology might be. Post your thoughs here or send a mail directly to the project's mailing list. Just say that the project looks interesting for the future and ask if the authors have though about the accessibility provision. I've already done this with three of them (Lowfat, Jokosher and the ODF reader) and the response has been very good.
