Unfortunately, you can't get a splash image and custom colours to play nicely together. It's a GRUB problem rather than anything wrong with the script, so you either need to put up with it, or just use one or the other.

As for your kernel names, it should automatically list the actual distrobution, followed by the kernel version, eg:

    Ubuntu, kernel 2.6.15-26-386

However, the menu item names are arbitrary. You could call it 'I LOVE LINUX OMG', and as long as you specified the other options, it would work perfectly fine. Currently, the only way to do that kind of thing using this script is to use the 'Direct Edit' option. Scroll down to where you'll find all of the actual menu items. The line which says 'title' is fine to edit to whatever you like. Just don't use any bizarre characters. You must, however, keep the word 'title' .

Now, If there were something as easy as this script for the boot screen, I'd be in Linux heaven.
Maybe you should have a look at this one?

It's very easy to do and I use it myself for some time now.
The only thing is,when you get another kernel, you should place "vga=792" at the end of the new kernel line because when grub is updated it removes it.
Resistance is futile.....you will be assimilated!

It's good, I'm just no fan of Ubuntu brown/orange. My main reason for using xorg-aiglx + compiz (Quinn packages) was to get as far away from brown/orange as possible.

ARGH! I just realised there was another (pretty bad) bug in the installer, which the last bug-fix created. For a lot of people, this would have meant the installer didn't work at all.

Anyway, it's fixed now. Sorry if it caused any problems!

Technically it's not really GPLd. The page I made about it: Click on GrubEd does have a 'kind of' licence, which essentially just says it's free and you can modify it etc, but it's not the GPL, mostly because I can't be bothered going through the GPL with a fine tooth-comb myself
