Open file with app on usb-stick

My Keepassx file on usb stick opens with keepassx.app on usb-stick on OSX computers. Would like Ubuntu to do the same.
Want to Open keepassx.kdbx file with the keepassx.app on the usb drive.
This special Keepassx.app on USB-stick needs to open that keepassx.kdbx file because of encryption and because changes need to be saved on that same USB-stick.

Now Ubuntu wants me to choose a preferred application on computer. That will not work.
    Ubuntu 14.04 on Macbook 5.1

Do I need to write a script? How to make that keepass.app on USB preferred app for this keepass.kdbx?

    Thanks

Hi jaap4, welcome to the forums.

The portable version of KeePass can only run on any computer directly from a USB device only if a .NET framework is installed on the computer.

Thanks slickymaster, But KeepassX is different from Keepass. KeepassX is an OSX application so I do not expect .NET to help in this case.

Of course you're right. Silly me, didn't notice the X in your Keepass.
