VMWare Tools on LUbuntu 14.04 running within VMWare Workstation 10.0.3

I have upgraded my kernel (automatically to 3.13) manually to 3.16.0-31-generic and attempted to install VMwareTools-9.6.2-1688356 that comes built-in with VMWare Workstation 10.0.3 (which I am running on OpenSuSE 13.1 Host). However, I get the dreaded vmhgfs.ko failure when attempting to install that module into my kernel for shared folders.



EDIT: Nevermind, downgraded my kernel back to 3.8 and was able to re-install VMWareTools (version that came with VMWare Workstation 11) without an issue. Also, I bought a Raspberry Pi 2 that I am going to use instead of the VMWare setup...

EDIT: N/M, downgraded kernel to re-install VMWareTools as it's been working for years that way.

What other information would I need to share to help get this working again. It's a music server that I and a few friends of mine all use (Madsonic), as well as Movie server (PlexMediaServer) that we use within the house to watch movies almost daily.
