    Vanished boot/LUKS partition -- recoverable?

I am working on a gen4 i5 Dell XPS 13 with a 128GB SSD. Ubuntu 14.10 x64 Desktop was installed using the standard setup with ext4, LVM, and LUKS encryption.

Recently the user, who did not do any disk or partition editing prior to restarting their laptop, restarted with a missing operating system. The boot partition vanished.

Upon booting with Ubuntu via Live USB, the disk is healthy and is a completely empty DOS partition.

What the expletive? is this recoverable?

    Cheers
