Standard G4 iBook issue, radeon driver, probably modest spec item. I'm in xubun 14.04 right now, in the LXDE session, so don't know where to see the exact specs. I've been trying to find a DE that can get me into Gmail w/o the fan blowing its top off for the last hour . . . trying different browsers, but back to FF . . . . It's just got 646 MB RAM, doesn't seem to be enough to do anything on the net . . . 933 MHz is blowing its top. Even basic LXDE seems to be taking all its got and giving me noise. But, back to the testing of 15.10 alpha . . . didn't seem to get it working in the color rendering area too well. Otherwise, OK, no flashing black display or frozen screen as with the "live" boot param.

The version matters, if it is a Radeon 9000 then you will not be able to have hardware acceleration. My PowerMac has a radeon 9000 and to have a working DE I need to force software rendering in Xorg.
