    Installation Version for Ubuntu Desktop

On the Ubuntu.com website, I noticed that the download version being advertised on the home page is version 14.10.

However when going to the Desktop download page, the page says it is version 14.04.1 LTS.
After downloading, the name of the ISO is ubuntu-14.04.1-desktop-amd64.iso (I have a 64 bit AMD system).
After booting, I have Ubuntu 14.04

    How do I get 14.10?

Be aware that 14.10 is an interim release and has around six months support left, while 14.04 LTS is a long-term support release and is supported for five years, until April 2019. If you don't mind upgrading every nine months, then go for the interim releases. If not, stick with LTS.

You probably knew this, but just thought I'd throw it in, in case.

PS: You should be able to upgrade to 14.10 from the current install by going to Software and Updates (I think it's called in Ubuntu)>Updates tab, and setting 'Notify me of a new Ubuntu version:' to 'For any new version'. That should then offer you 14.10 when you next update with Software Updater. Good luck.
