What internet service provider are you using? Is your client using the same one? What country are you in?

Are you signed into google when you search?

    Do you have a Lenovo?

Some US cell companies have been using super cookies which identify and track all their customers. It's great data for advertisers, not so great for privacy. And there's Superfish which collects data on web shopping and presents targeted ads that are "alternate products for price comparison". https://blog.malwarebytes.org/privac...erfish-fiasco/

What you're describing smells a bit like this.
    Knock knock.
    Race condition.
    Who's there?

From the sound of it, using "Google to search" is a common theme. Your search results are not private when you use a service like Google.
    python -c 'print hex(3 << ((1024/4)-2))[:-1]'
    python -c 'print hex((1 << (1024/4))-1)[:-1]'

    As an experiment, try duckduckgo.

If you want to go all the way, use duckduckgo with Adblock plus and NoScript and see if it still happens.

There has to be more to this than just using Google, no doubt about that
Your search results are not private when you use a service like Google.
but then, almost everyone is using Google and it's not like everyone is regularly getting emails related to recent searches.

That sounds a lot like targeted advertsing/spyware like pointed out in comment 11 above ,
I would also check for some rogue Firefox extension that may do something similar.

Firefox on its own won't give away any email address, but a malware-like addon may do, that's incidentally why Mozilla has recently introduced extension signing.

I have been using Startpage HTTPS Privacy Search Engine for a few years now and must say it has been painless.

everyone regularly getting emails related to recent searches is not a necessary and sufficient condition for there to be a problem with Google's handling of your data.
