Thumbs up Gnome shell users, what extensions do you use?

It doesn't matter if you use Ubuntu or some other distribution. What extenstions do you use and why?

I've recently upgraded to Gnome shell 3.14 and unfortunately some of my extensions stopped working.

Before I upgraded, I was using
    • Activities Configurator... primarlily so I could add a logo next to the menu
    • Backslide ... for changing the background every so often. Unfortunately it isn't "officially" compatible with 3.14, but if you add the version to the config file you can fool it. It's not 100% yet, but I am hoping they'll upgrade it
    • Maximus two .... for removing the title bar of non-gnome windows when I am in full-screen mode (only).

There were a couple others I installed, but never got around to using it.

So what extensions do YOU use?

Oh Dear the list seams to get longer and longer,

    Dash to dock
    Audio input switcher
    Audio output switcher
    Bumblebee indicator
    Media player indicator
    Naitve window placement
    Netspeed
    Skype integration
System-monitor ( this is good as it replaced alot of my previous monitoring extensions)

Kurt - did you know the suspend button is in gnome by default if you hold alt down the off button turns to suspend.

Yes, but who wants to do that? . Actually, I wanted something close to gnome 2 for SWMBO who is by no means tech savvy and by her own declaration "doesn't like change!"

Re: Gnome shell users, what extensions do you use?

    My list to date :

    Dash to dock
    Extension update notifier
    Flash fullscreen fix
    Frippery move clock
    Hide top panel
    Impatience
    Insensitive message tray
    Panel OSD
    Replace system alt switcher
    Workspaces to dock

The last one took me a bit of getting used to with the pressure settings - a lot of windows need to use sliders down that side.

The two i miss from 12.04 in 14.04 Ubuntu Gnome are :
Advanced settings in user menu - now a Tweak Tool app that can be put in the dash so perhaps won't be missed
    Remove rounded corners

Re: Gnome shell users, what extensions do you use?

Dash to Dock, Wheel Scroller to Change Workspace, Disable Oversized OnScreen Graphic During Workspace Change, Add Quit Button to App Icons in Dash/Dock, Kill Top Left Hot Corner, Dynamic Panel (makes it transparent), Small Icon in Panel, Better Volume Indicator, TopIcons.

These essentially convert the stock Gnome Shell interface into a conventional Dock with static top panel interface. I find that much more useful.

(I wouldn't use Gnome without at least Dash to Dock. I only use Gnome on Fedora installs because Ubuntu Gnome is always a release behind the curve and adding the PPA's has been a problem. This is not really the fault of the Ubuntu Gnome team, which I'm sure could use more people and resources, and which has to cope with the fact that the Ubuntu release cycle and the Gnome release cycle are out of synch for their purposes.)
