I am using the latest Chrome browser (not Chromium) with Xubuntu 14.04. I have my browser "home page" set to www.google.com
I clicked on the home page icon on Chrome and it was reset to:
which redirects to:Code:https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=2&sqi=2&ved=0CCoQFjAB&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.speedtest.net%2Fisp%2Fatt-u-verse&ei=xqBvVMrSBsztoASYt4GYAQ&usg=AFQjCNFvsido2Rs4o6MiyyjuIqODvwkQeQ&bvm=bv.80185997,d.cGU
http://www.speedtest.net/isp/att-u-verse
Never had this happen before. I had used speedtest.net around that time, but I have always heard that was a reputable website. According to Google, if the browser homepage changes on its own, it is malware.
What do you guys think happened? I am reeally scared to enter any credit card info or similar personal info on web sites until I can find out what happened. I am fairly knew to linux and don't know what to do about malware (I actually wasn't expecting any in linux!)
Also, I went into Chrome's settings and changed the home page back, and it has stayed like that so far.
