I am seeing blogs on Planet Ubuntu where appreciation is given of certain individuals who have contributed to the Ubuntu project and the Ubuntu Community. I do not have a blog but I would like to thank Colin Watson.
I remember when Ubuntu switched from Grub 1.99 with its menu.lst to Grub 2.0 with its grub.cfg. Mt boot menu became such a mess due to having multiple installs of Ubuntu. Some of which still used menu.lst. Colin sorted the mess out for us.
I have since found out that Colin has been a contributor to Grub and Grub in Ubuntu. I have heard Colin speak few times at Q & A sessions. He seems to know what he was talking about and he spoke in a way that I could understand even though the subject was often beyond my understanding.
I read his recent blog where he announces that he is reducing his workload. It shows just how hard many are working to our benefit and they do not do it for profit or prominence.
Thank you, Colin Watson.
