Re: ASUS Zenbook Touchpad on Ubuntu 14.04.1 LTS

    Hi everybody,

I am new on that forum. I am French but unfortunately I didn't find any solution on the French forum.
I recently bought an Asus notebook (r409lc-wx118h) and I've removed completely Windows 8 to install Ubuntu 14.04.
I managed the installation but I've got some problems with my touchpad: it works but my laptop doesn't recognize it. When I have a look on the parameters, the touchpad is not detected. In fact the touchpad only works when I use one finger but it doesn't work as a multi-touch pad.
Moreover, after putting my laptop on standby mode, the touchpad doesn't work at all.

I had a look on this forum page and I read that it is recommended to install a driver, but I don't know what type of touchpad it is (Elantech, or Folantech...)

Maybe someone has the same laptop and has solved this problem.

    Thank you in advance,

    Chloe

    Please give output of

    dmesg | grep pnp

And I will tell you which touchpad you have.

    You have a Focaltech touchpad.
It is not officially supported yet. But you can insall my build from here.

I recomend 3.0.16-29 version, since it is official now.

Thank you very much, I am going to try now and I'll tell you how it works.

What is the difference between linux-headers and linux-image ? I am not sure which one I have to install..

You need to install all 4 deb files.
Just download them to your home folder and run

    sudo dpkg -i linux*.deb

Pilot6, you are my hero right about now! I bought an ASUS X553M a few months ago that has been gathering dust ever since due to the touchpad issue (bought it for typing University work, but with no 'disable touchpad while typing' option it was pretty much useless for that purpose). Thanks a lot!

Re: ASUS Zenbook Touchpad on Ubuntu 14.04.1 LTS

    Hello.
I've recently installed Ubuntu 14.04 on my Asus F550LN (it has a Focaltech touchpad) and I haven't been able to get my touchpad working at all. I've tried installing some of your kernel builds but to no avail. I should say that I'm very new to Ubuntu and Linux in general.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
