I need to connect to transfer over large amounts of data.
You didn't specify the from and to so I'm going to asume you want to transfer data from OSX to Linux although it works exactly the same way with the same exact command in reverse:
On the mac open a terminal and run:
Code:
python -m SimpleHTTPServer
The output should be something like this:
Serving HTTP on 0.0.0.0 port 8000
On the Linux machine open your favorite browser and point it to:
Change 192.168.0.100 to the correct ip address of the mac.
The contents of your "home" directory will be seen as downloadable objects.
Notes:
*** Directories are not downloadable they simply open to reveal what's inside. If you want to transfer an entire directory you will have to create an archive of it first.
In OSX just select the folder > right click > Compress and it creates a folder.zip file alongside the original folder.
*** After transfer is complete kill the server: Control - C
