Way to stop or slow internet when amount of downloads +uploads reached?

Is there an application you can install that will enable you to stop or slow the internet for all apps in ubuntu once you reach say 20gb total transfers (uploads+downloads)?

I want to avoid going over the isp limit because then the speed is slowed for everything but if I could limit it in ubuntu I could leave some left over for important use.

It only really has to work for one session though.

Thread moved to Networking & Wireless.

Not that I'm aware of. You could possibly write a script to do something like it, but I can't help with that. Hopefully someone will chime in who can.

Thanks, as a newbie I wouldn't be able to write a script.

I would only need it to work for one session though.
    Maybe that would be easier?
