Just upgraded from Lubuntu 14.04 to 14.10 (i386). Most things seem to work just fine except for the power applet. It shows notifications but it doesn't seem to give me the option to always show the indicator. Any ideas?

Same here. I got it back by reducing the icon size number in Panel Settings (right-click on panel > Panel Settings) even though the power icon does not resize. Seems you should instead increase panel size, since this particular icon is too big, but that doesn't help. The adjustments to height on the panel itself are really buggy if you increase it.

Well, I'll try that as soon as I get home. I hope I don't have to increase the size too much. I'm using Lubuntu on an eee pc 900. Tiny display.

Mine disappears with each restart, so I give up on getting it to appear. It is a horrible icon (at least the a/c one) anyway. My system is a desktop, so I can happily say good bye icon.
Try to add "Power manager plugin" applet in panel settings
