Ok, so aren't these the guys who give us access to most of our Multimedia codecs (decss etc?) are there alternatives available or... how is this going to work out for Ubuntu Users?

There are alternatives to those codecs. I actually haven't used their repos for a while and I've got all the support I'm looking for. ie; mp3, flash, other audio/video types..

Hopefully some other people might pick up that project, but if not another one might just emerge in its place.

Actually, most of the multimedia codecs are in the Multiverse repositories.

PLF does have some of the illegal-in-the-US codecs, though--w32codecs and libdvdcss2.

Debian-multimedia provides the same codecs, and doesn't go down all the time.

It used to be called Marillat, but the maintainer, Christian Marillat, changed the name to Debian-multimedia.

Other than that, I'm not sure what you want to know.

Luckily there's still cipherfunk. It has some multimedia packages. You can point your browser here to see which ones :
    ftp://cipherfunk.org/pub/packages/ub...-i386/Packages

    currently it has :
    gstreamer0.10-pitfdll
    w32codecs
    libdvdcss2-dev
    libdvdcss2
