    Update Dell XPS 13 BIOS

Hello, I'm trying to update the BIOS on my wife's Dell XPS 13 ultrabook. It came with Ubuntu preinstalled (good) but a very outdated BIOS version (not so good).

I tried my best to follow the instructions from this page (the BIOS cannot be updated from within Ubuntu). I made a bootable Freedos USB stick, I got my DOS prompt, then I tried to execute the BIOS update file. After unpacking itself, it gave me the error:

"Error 203 - failed to initialize SMI! Status = 305"

I don't know whether this error comes from the Freedos environment, of from the BIOS update file itself. Do you know what this error means?

Hopefully someone (perhaps a Dell owner) can advise...

    TIA - best regards, Daniel

How about trying to do what dell site tells you, not some unknown 100 years old wiki page ?

I'd very much like to, but I can't find any instructions about this case. Could you provide a link please?

Because several other, more recent sites or blogs say just the same. This method has worked for several Dell users, I'd like to get it working for me...
