Very useful link here http://askubuntu.com/questions/43637...r-intel-needed
What do you think to that Ask Ubuntu thread, Bashing? How about this:
?[ACCEPTED ANSWER. PROBLEM SOLVED] Getting "Intel Haswell" instead of the "Gallium 0.4 llvmpipe" video driver: I very much appreciate the support I got from an export user of Ask Ubuntu. The problem was indeed solved by loading the "LTS Enablement Stack" drivers. I Just followed the link offered by Lekensteyn and copied the commands in the terminal. Amazing how simple things can turn out to be in Ubuntu: I love it! JGMS – JGMS
Do you think the intel haswell driver would be relevant for me? I can't remeber what hardware I've got! XD
Alex; No relation;
Welp:

As the focus there is Intel, and what you are working with is 'SIS' .What do you think to that Ask Ubuntu thread, Bashing? How about this:
We are stuck at making up a custom Xorg.conf file. - Is what I think -
To that end, you need to understand 'cvt' and 'xrandr' .
Even then I doubt there is a perfect solution, just something that is workable.
when all else fails
read the instructions
Just to clarify, am I waiting for you to figure out what to do next?
I just don't want to be sitting around doin' nowt if it's you wiatin' for me!
Alex: Yuk ...
Looking at the Xorg.log file, the system and the graphics card just is not happy . I think we need to provide a reasonable modeline in the video configuration file.
Let's get an updated status:
And I do some homework and see what it is going to take to make up a modeline that the graphics card accepts.Code:cat /var/log/Xorg.0.log cat /etc/X11/xorg.conf ls -al /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/use-vesa.conf ls -al /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d ls -al /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d
Oh what fun !
Hello all! Bashing has informed me that he can't really provide much more help on this subject. I think it has kind of reached the end of the road now anyway. I'm not really that bothered about whether GRUB looks just perfect and the rest of the UI is OK. It's only when it comes to playing certain games that the game window can get a bit iffy. But I've got a good desktop for games now! I've even got Steam on it. :-O XD Yay!
I hereby declare this thread as solved. If any better solutions can be found, you know how to contact me. Thanks everybody. Keep computerin'!
Hi there
about 3 days ago, I rescued a V5535 from being disposed. I ran exactly into the same problems and funnyhow, currently I'm getting exactly the same outputs in my logs, like posted here. Currently I'm running on 1024x768x24@85, switching to 1280x768x24@61 destroys the geometry of the picture (it is stretched) and 1280x800x24x? is not available. The last post had a very sad conclusion. Maybe I might offer some help here? I'm using *buntu on about 8 Notebooks for 5 years now (one of them is the legendary AC100 and I'm using *ubuntu on it since the very experimental stage of this porting). I'm not experienced in coding, but I'm familiar with shell commands.
Greetings,
Martin
PS: I realized "Join Date: Apr 2009" - wow, how time flies by... So to correct myself: I'm using *buntu for 6 years now
