    Chessbase-Fritz

Are anyone been able to install sucessfully the playchess.com server or fritz through wine?

I tried it, but when I open the server just it is frozen and do nothing. In the installation process ask me to install the ActiveX controls for my mozilla browser. Apparently it's installed, but anyway it doesn't work playchess.com

My chess programs are the only thing that make me go back to windows.

Hi! I suggest you to use Arena (www.playwitharena.com) witch works for me perfectly with wine. You can use the UCI version of Fritz!!

The gui is very nice.. one of the best i've ever seen

Thanks Edric, I followed your advice and got it to work [Note to Kleist: I could NOT get the downloadable from playchess.com to work], I then played around with it and noticed that
    wine "C:\Program Files\ChessBase\ChessProgram9\ChessProgram9.exe" also works.

Edric, did you ever get the "move sound" to work. I miss hearing the simulated work piece on chessboard 'clunk' sound. My opening sounds and illegal horn sound works, but not the move sound. Yours?

    Thanks,
    dd
