Re: What did you do during Summer Vacation?

Great to hear so many camping expeditions! I would love to do some hiking and camping but the kids are not quite conditioned for that. The 14 miles on the Appalachian Trail nearly killed me (my knees have still not recovered yet).

And now the Boy Scouts are back in session, I can go camping once a month with about 20 kids and 2-4+ adults (that is our usual show-up)!

I just hope we manage to get to the 3 day canoe trip they are planning. The trip to Canada seems to be becoming questionable (but I will hold out hope).

Last time I had a "summer vacation" was in the 70's, so give a a moment or two to think about it ...

We're a couple of weeks into spring here, so the weather is beginning to warm up a bit. No plans for our southern hemisphere summer yet.

So in the southern hemisphere, while we are going from summer to fall, you are going winter to spring?

So, have any plans for summer?
(if the winter gets really, really nasty, can I come visit? )

My 2 vacations were not very long. One was Sat-Tue and and the other was Sat-Mon. The BS camp, though, was Sun-Sat and was close enough that if I forgot anything, I could drive home and get it (have done so in the past... pillows, sheets, poles, etc..)

Use whatever OS or desktop works for you. Dual boot or use VMs if you want. Backup your computer regularly, and definitely before upgrading, partitioning, or installing an OS.

Also retired. Hopped in car with Designated Spouse(DS), proceeded to drive from Southern Ontario to Vancouver, BC., almost all on the Trans-Canada highway. It took 6 days. Great time, great scenery. Crossing the Prairies, many miles of.....nothing, DS started calling those "How's My Driving" numbers to let them know their drivers were doing a fine job. The Rocky Mountains are gorgeous, spent a day in Banff, a day in Jasper. Four days coming back, in Canada all the way. A good time was had by all.
