Exclamation Dual boot win8 and ubuntu and virtualizing Kali Linux

In a week or so I'm going to have a new laptop and I wanted to begin using Linux as my primary OS but while I get used to it I'd like to still use win8. Then I want to put in a VM Kali Linux and use it in both OS's, but that have the same files. I thought about having a separate partition in my main disk and there having all my files and the VM files.
I'm not sure if this would work so if anyone has already tried it before and knows if it works or not please comment.
    Thanks.

I did something like this, but I had the Kali VM live on the Windows partition. It's easy to browse the Windows partition from the Linux installation, so you just point Virtualbox in the Linux installation to the Windows folder.
    Knock knock.
    Race condition.
    Who's there?

I thought about doing that but as I said I still don't have my new laptop.
But thanks anyway, now I've got proof that it will work.
    :)
