What is the correct method burning Win 7 ISO on USB

    Hi all,

I have spent half day unable making the burned ISO on an USB to work.

    I have tried several methods such as;

    1)
    dd
Files have been burned but USB unable to boot PC

    2)
    unetbootin
USB can boot PC but unable to start Win 7 instalation. It auto-boot repeatedly.

    etc.

There is NO problem on the ISO. I can't install it on VM of VirtualBox.

Please advise before trying the last resort burning the ISO on DVD. Thanks

    Rgds

You must use the Microsoft tool to do this. Google will find it.

However, many WinVista/7/8 DVDs are tied to the hardware they came with (validated by checking the system BIOS), so only a retail or enterprise copy can be used with an ISO inside a VM.

BTW - I learned this the hard way too - after wasting hours and hours trying to create a bootable flash drive using normal methods - all of which failed.

    Hi,

    Thanks for your advice.

In less than 15min I have Win7 ISO burned on a DVD+R which was my last DVD on the shelves. I haven't burned CD/DVD for several years.

I didn't expect so difficult. I have burned many Linux ISO on USB without problem.

Now I have Windows 7 Enterprise running which will be used for graphic editing only.

    Use the tool MS built?

    Microsoft Store

It takes a while to make the USB but it does work well.
