Lubuntu doesn't start up

Hiya!!!!

Could use some help please, when I start up my computer that has Lubuntu 14 on it shows the Lubuntu logo with the loading sign and then - I don't know if any of you have had it where the screen goes blank for 10 or so seconds and then the desktop loads up - the screen goes blank doesn't load up at all it just stays blank.

Not the best description, sorry, but if any of you can help please reply!

P.S. I've already tried the cables and everything I just think it's something wrong with the OS.

Do you by chance have an Nvidia graphics card?
If so, have you tried the nomodeset boot option?

I had the same problem and I simply bypass the problem by login in safety mode
and updating the lastest updates - even post release.
