"Applications can no longer access your account"

Just recently, I started getting a message every time I logged in to my computer (14.04) that applications could no longer access my gmail account, and that I needed to open Online Accounts to reinstate it. If I open Online accounts, click the gmail account and enter my gmail password it logs on. So what gives?

I remember having this problem a while back, but it was so near a release upgrade that I ignored it, and it was fixed with the reinstall.

Same problem here. It has been happening to me for about 3 weeks. I can grant access in Online Accounts, but the next time I log in it tells me "Applications can no longer access your ....@gmail.com account". I originally thought that it might be related to installing and removing "Insync" since it is integrated with the gmail account, but now I'm not so sure. I have also tried removing access permission from my Google account and then reestablishing it, but this does not work either.

Hope there is a fix somewhere because this is getting annoying....

This seems a little too important to not have a fix. Bump...

    I think I've found a workaround.

The problem seems to be with the default Google calendar. I disabled the default Google calendar, and then in Evolution re-added it as a new Google calendar.
