14.04 + NVIDIA + Triple screens not possible?

I can't imagine this is a particularly rare setup, especially these days, but apparently this configuration of setup will just not work?

I have been trying to resolve this for a while, and as such cannot move from my 12.04 install as I need 3 screens, as this is my work machine, and I can't spend countless hours fiddling until something works. My 12.04 install has various issues, and I really need to get rid of it and get onto the fresh copy of 14.04 I have on another partition that I installed 3-4 months ago.

Seems there are a few other people with the same issues here, but as it is a bug with the kernel and xinerama and nvidia, I am stuck:

Can anyone also confirm they are having this issue? The nouveau drivers still don't seem to work, and I haven't ever compiled my own kernel before if that is even an option. Any assistance would be much appreciated

Had to upgrade to 4 screens, and thought this would be working by now in 14.10, still no exactly the same issue

My 12.04 install is on its last legs, on the verge of having to move to Windows which will suck
