Widescreen Issues - Dell Inspiron 8600

I have as per the thread title the problem where i cannot get a resolution higer then 1024x768 to display. My desktop normally uses 1650x1080, and i got this using Xfree86 (warty). My question is, can someone please provide me with the correct xorg.conf settings (i have tried the ones in the widescreen howtoo thread). Also i tried the dpkg-reconfigure serveral times to no avial. Your time and effort is greatly appriecated.

Re: Widescreen Issues - Dell Inspiron 8600

Here is mine. My screens native resolution is 1440x900 at 60 hz so it is a little different than yours but the configuration should be similar.

Code:
# /etc/X11/xorg.conf (xorg X Window System server configuration file)
#
# This file was generated by dexconf, the Debian X Configuration tool, using
# values from the debconf database.
#
# Edit this file with caution, and see the /etc/X11/xorg.conf manual page.
# (Type "man /etc/X11/xorg.conf" at the shell prompt.)
#
# This file is automatically updated on xserver-xorg package upgrades *only*
# if it has not been modified since the last upgrade of the xserver-xorg
# package.
#
# If you have edited this file but would like it to be automatically updated
# again, run the following commands:
#
# cp /etc/X11/xorg.conf /etc/X11/xorg.conf.custom
# sudo sh -c 'md5sum /etc/X11/xorg.conf >/var/lib/xfree86/xorg.conf.md5sum'
# sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg

Re: Widescreen Issues - Dell Inspiron 8600

After successufly ruining my install of hoary to the point xserver wold not start, even with a config file that was previously valid, i decided to do a clean install of hoary off a hoary 5.04 disk. As soon as xserver started I had perfect detection, so i would reccomend that to those who are having trouble still. Also for anyone thats interested, this is my xorg.conf file now:
