Flashplugin-installer and security vulnerabilities of ubuntu/firefox

I am using ubuntu 12.04 and while trying to install ubuntu-restricted extras noted that "flashplugin-installer" is part of the new packages. Since adobe flash is known to have probable security issues, should I be concerned about security vulnerabilities (if any) of ubuntu and especially of firefox? The issues involved are too complicated for me to decide what to do. Can anybody please advise?

I am not aware of any current "probable security issues" in Adobe Flash, but if you think or know it's vulnerable, and want piece of mind, remove Flash.

Install Ad Block Edge and noscript as add-ons for Firefox and you should be fine. The flashplayer is needed to watch some youtube videos and some webpages that use flash banners. Otherwise, I am not aware of any issues with flash being used as a virus vector (carrier) under linux.
